Which name should I put in a form?

A calendar may ask for an IANA name such as America/Chicago. Your calendar uses that name to handle seasonal clock changes. A UTC offset describes the difference at the time shown. Do not replace the zone name with an offset when a form asks for a time zone.

Borders and changing clock rules

Time-zone boundaries do not always follow state lines. Browser clock rules may also lag a recent change. For a point near a border, check the coordinates and the boundary release. The tools use the same point across pages.
