Analytics is off

This site does not load Plausible or Google Analytics. It sends no page views or tool inputs to them.

What the page uses

Coordinates and search choices live in this open tab. They are not written to cookies, browser storage, a share link or a location history. Your browser requests geographic files from this site; the file names reveal a broad area. The site’s web server is configured without request logs.

Beach ranking uses a static file from this site and runs in the open tab. It does not send your position to USGS. Directions links open a map with the beach destination; they do not include your selected starting point.

Outside lookups are your choice

Ground elevation is requested from USGS only after you choose that action. USGS receives the coordinates and your network connection information and may keep request records. Opening a street map sends the point you are viewing to that provider. Park and beach directions links send the destination point; the map provider may then ask for your starting location. Copy and share actions run only when you choose them. No third-party map tiles load automatically.

Internet connection estimates

The separate IP-location page contacts country.is only after you choose Check my IP location. The provider receives your IP address as part of that connection, but no GPS position or selected coordinates. The request sends no cookies or referrer, and the page does not save the reply in browser storage. The provider states that it does not keep request logs; we cannot inspect its servers. The data page records that policy. No IP estimate is used when device location is denied.
