The result here is a Census ZIP Code Tabulation Area, or ZCTA. It groups addresses for statistics and is not a delivery boundary. A post office box, large organization or address near an area edge may use another code. Use USPS ZIP Code Lookup with the full street address before sending mail.
A ZIP Code cannot settle your county
A delivery area may cross a county line. To fill a county field, check the point in the county tool instead of guessing from the ZIP. The same applies to a city boundary.
Why no ZIP area may appear
Census boundaries here are generalized to about 55 meters, so a narrow gap can appear between two neighboring ZIP areas, including in a city center. When that happens, a nearby outline may be shown as “Nearest ZIP area.” It is not a confirmed containing area. Some points have no nearby mapped ZIP area at all. Use USPS ZIP Code Lookup with the full address for mail, including when this field is blank. The methodology explains the distinction.
