How do I share my location on iPhone?

To send where you are right now, open a Messages conversation, tap the Plus button, tap Location, then tap the map pin and Send Pin. To let someone follow you as you move, use Find My or Messages to share your Live Location for an hour, until the end of the day or indefinitely.

Share where you are once

In Messages, open a conversation, tap the Plus button, tap Location, tap the map pin in the corner, then Send Pin and send the message. In Maps, scroll down, tap Share My Location and choose how to send the pin. A pin shows only that one spot; the other person can’t follow you as you move.

Share your Live Location

In Find My, tap Me and turn on Share My Location. Then tap People, tap the Add button, tap Share My Location, choose the person and choose how long: an hour, until the end of the day, indefinitely or a custom time. In Messages, tap the Plus button, tap Location and choose the same durations. Both of you need an iPhone with iOS 15 or later, and some options need iOS 17.

Sending your location to someone without an iPhone

A pin from Messages reaches anyone you text, and Maps can share a pin through other apps. For a link that opens on any phone or computer, with your coordinates in the message, use the share tool on this site: it sends a text or email from your own phone and keeps no copy.

If they still can’t see where you are

Apple’s guide says to check that Location Services is on for Find My: Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Find My. Location Services itself must be on, and the device listed next to Sharing From in Find My’s Me tab is the one whose location people see.
