How do I pause my location on Find My iPhone?

To hide your location from one person for the rest of the day, open Find My, tap People, tap their name, tap More, then Hide Location. To stop sharing with everyone, tap Me and turn off Share My Location; turn it back on and the same people see you again.

Pause or stop with one person

In Find My, tap People, then tap the person’s name. Hide Location stops sharing with them until the next day. Stop Sharing My Location ends it until you share again. In Messages, tap the person or group’s name at the top of the conversation and choose the same options. Apple says the person isn’t notified, and stopping in one app stops it in all of them.

Stop sharing with everyone

In Find My, tap Me and turn off Share My Location. Nobody sees your location until you turn it back on, and then everyone you shared with before sees it again. Deleting the Find My app does not stop sharing: Apple says to reinstall it and turn sharing off there.

If your safety is at risk

Safety Check, in Settings > Privacy & Security, stops sharing your location and other information with people and apps at once, and lets you review what each one can see.

Turning off location altogether

Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services turns location off for every app, including Maps and Find My. Apple notes that some features won’t work while it is off. Apple also says your iPhone’s location may still be used when you call an emergency number, whether or not Location Services is on.
